Epoch 5 President Katherine Heaviside Honored by Women on the Job for Accomplishment in Business
Huntington, NY... Katherine Heaviside, President of Epoch 5 Public Relations, was recently honored for outstanding accomplishments in business by Women on the Job (WOJ), a not-for-profit advocacy program to advance women in the workplace. She is a resident of Huntington.
"There have been revolutionary changes in the world of business in the past 30 years," said Heaviside in her address to the 250 luncheon attendees. "I am fortunate to have launched my career during a time of growing opportunity for women. I would like to thank Women on the Job, which is succeeding in making business management understand how women can add value to their organization at every level-up to and including their boards of directors."
Heaviside founded Epoch 5 Public Relations in Huntington in 1979. Under her leadership, Epoch 5 has grown into a full-service communications firm with 17 employees, providing strategic business-to-business communications, media, community and government relations, graphic design, and issues management. The firm has represented more than 325 corporate and not-for-profit clients in industries ranging from health care to residential and commercial real estate.
Heaviside's leadership in Long Island's business community has extended to various associations and charitable organizations. She currently serves on the boards of North Fork Bank and Long Island's United Way. She is a member of the Chairman's Council of the Heckscher Museum of Art. Former affiliations include: Board of Directors, United Way of New York State; U.S. Congressman's Citizens Review Board, Suffolk County Small Business Advisory Commission; Chair, Board of Directors, Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce; and memberships on the Boards of Directors of Long Island Partnership, Family Service League, Nassau County Boy Scouts; and the Stony Brook Foundation.
Formed in 1982 and based in Port Washington, NY, Women on the Job is a project of Resources for Program Development, Inc. Through a volunteer Board of Directors and the Women on the Job Task Force, a coalition of more than 60 Long Island organizations representing over 10,000 women and men, WOJ works to correct systemic patterns of sex discrimination concerning fair pay, equal opportunity for employment and sexual harassment.
Now in its twenty-fifth year, Epoch 5 Public Relations has represented a variety of noted regional and national organizations.
